Only grab one if you have a use for it with something else as there is every chance it won't work with the mini.
My own Atari style 9pin to USB adapter didn't work with the mini, it's just a simple plug'n play for Windows XP or above and requires no additional software to make it work. Windows own controller calibration software sees it just fine but again, it does not work with the mini...

Hi there,
I can confirm that the Mayflash one does NOT work. Luckily it kinda works on my Pi though.

I can confirm that this Adapter works: USB Joystickadapter (by hexagon) Just bought it and soldered it together yesterday [ 40.436476] input: hexagons.de Retro-Joystick as /devices/platform/sw-ohci.1/usb3/3-1/3-1:1.0/input/input4 [ 40.450802] generic-usb 0003:16C0:27DC.0004: input: USB HID v1.01 Joystick [hexagons.de Retro-Joystick] on usb-sw-ohci-1/input0 [ 40.479585] input: hexagons.de Retro-Joystick as /devices/platform/sw-ohci.1/usb3/3-1/3-1:1.1/input/input5 [ 40.483812] generic-usb 0003:16C0:27DC.0005: input: USB HID v1.01 Joystick [hexagons.de Retro-Joystick] on usb-sw-ohci-1/input1 03000000c0160000dc27000001010000 for Gamecontollerdb Works together with a the64 Joystick connected to Port 1 and the Adapter connected to Port 2 (tested a Quickshot II Turbo on left DB9) Since you have only on Button, you definetely need a the64 joystick connected to jump between the Games and Carousel. Unfortunately Hexagons Page with the Firmware is down atm because of DSGVO (data protection regulation) starting in EU on 26 May .. what a fuss... www.hexagons.de/index.php/USB_JoystickadapterBut you can find the Eagle Layout (+ part list) here: www.c64-wiki.de/images/3/36/Joyadapter_V1.4%2B_%28release%29.zip

Using Nyko NES Classic Mini Wireless Controller with Nunchuk64 (https://github.com/djtulan/nunchuk64) + USB-Joystickadapter also works on the Mini

I ordered RetroFun! adapter. Some people had problems with it. But Pawel from Electronica4u promised to upgrade it. E4u ordered Mini just because of that (to test it and improve it). Another one 9-pin (DE9, "Atari") to USB adapter is this one (not tested): USB RetroPad Adapter by Bruno Freitas: www.brunofreitas.com/node/41This is Bruno's answer to query: It should work with original C64 joysticks (but not paddles), since they use the same pinout as the Atari 2600 joystick.
It looks like the C64mini takes in several USB HID joystick and keyboards. My guess is that it should work fine with the RetroPad Adapter with the PC/PS3 firmware installed.
But since I don't have a C64mini to test, I can't 100% assure you. Here are contacts: Bruno Freitas (brunofreitas.com) bruno_at_brunofreitas.com Pawel Burdzy (http://electronica4u.com/) facebook.com/pawel.burdzy.9 edit: proper name of this connector is DE-9 or DE9, not DB9, according to Wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DB9en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-subminiature#Game_controller_ports

Mayflash-Mega-Drive-Genesis adapter don't work on the C64 Mini,I have one in my MegaCDPI and it works fine, took it out and tested on the Mini and nothing.so drivers are missing in the Mini for it.
