Hi all, new TheC64 owner here! Loving it, but...
I am using 1.6.1 firmware on a TheC64 full size. SN: 00048347 ordered from Amazon.com
Somehow my external USB US QWERTY keyboard is acting funky when I type SHIFT ' which is supposed to make a " it isn't working, it is showing a pie symbol. Also, some other weird things are happening like the brackets are shift brackets and the : is regular left bracket.
Before this, it was working as it should and as stated in TheC64 USB Keyboard help reference under US.
My hunch is that it seems like maybe it is using a non US layout and nothing I have done has helped to change it.
I did type SYS 200 (just experimenting with the SYS command and it just locked up the computer, and if memory serves, this could have been when it stopped acting like a US layout.
Could someone please help?
I have RTFM'd:
Things I have tried:
I'm hoping you guys know how to fix this!
I really want to use the external keyboard because I am _so_ much faster at typing on a PC style keyboard from years of use. I've tried to get used to the 2 arrow keys and shift, and the shift 2 for " but I just can't.
Many thanks in advance for the help!

I have RTFM'd:
- Read the entire TheC64/VIC20 Manual cover to cover
- I have also read TheC64 Mini manual which mentions a USB keyboard layout, but those buttons do not exist on my full size.
- Searched on TheC64 Community forums for similar issues and was unable to find a solution.
Things I have tried:
- Restoring from factory default
- Changing the language
- Changing the hz from 60 to 50 (my display supports both)
- Changing from C64 NTSC to PAL and back.
- Plugging the keyboard into different USB ports
- Plugging the keyboard in before booting cold
- Plugging the keyboard in after booting
- Plugging the keyboard in at the Carousel
- Random panicky key jams on both the real TheC64 keyboard and mine.
- Random button presses and combinations on the joystick it comes with.
- Trying with and without USB drive connected.
I'm hoping you guys know how to fix this!
