Are you talking about the Atari 2600 joystick clone USB joystick with 6 total buttons for navigating a GUI? Cuz I can't think of the name of mine at the moment but if that's it then it doesn't work. I have yet to try to edit the controller config text file to get it working, but it does work great with my RetroPie setup. I prefer a Atari style joystick for many games, cuz that's what I used for my C64 and Amiga. Some games though even on the 64 are better with a SNES style controller DPad. The InNext SNES style controller works good and is cheap. The buttons are mapped reasonably well without tweaking the config file, but you may want to read up on others too cuz I think the 8 Bit Duo or whatever works and people prefer it. A two pack of the InNext is only like $10 or $20 bucks. The 8 Bit Duo or whatever it's called is more expensive.
But, since the new official firmware now adds support for the upcoming controller for the future A500 mini, perhaps some controllers that didn't work before without editing the config file will now.
