Morning all,
I trust you’re all having an enjoyable Christmas.
Santa has been very good to me this year, and kindly left me a TheC64 under the tree. I’ve been really impressed with the device, from the gorgeous carousel, the lovely keyboard and the ease at which multi disk demos can be played with ease.
While finding my feet with the unit, one thing that hit me was the title music on Wizball. It’s definitely not emulated correctly.
Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround or an emulation fix incoming?
This is my only niggle so far in the few hours I’ve managed to get tinkering on the machine.
Thanks for reading.

Is it playing too fast or slow for you? If so set the machine to whatever pal or ntsc speed you're used to using.

One of the instruments is all over the place. It’s difficult to explain. I’ve got the system set up as a PAL 50 output. The disk image I’m using plays the intro music fine on a real Breadbin. I note that someone else on the forum mentioned sound issues on the Wizball title music, also.

As an update, I've tried a disk image and a tape image on two different TVs and a sound bar and the title music still seems off. It starts at the very beginning of the tune. One of the chords keeps hopping from sounding normal to distorted and back again.

To rule out the TV and sound bar being an issue I’ve hooked up an original Breadbin to the TV. Sound on the Wizball title screen is flawless.
I’ve taken recordings of the audio from TheC4 and an original machine, so will knock a quick video together so you can hear the differences.

I've knocked up a quick video detailing the issue.
Audio from an original C64 is first, followed by audio from TheC64:

I'm at work, so I can't watch the video at the moment. But, I do know that oddities with sound could be attributed to the SID emulation being used by the Vice emulator that powers TheC64.
It could be a matter of it emulating the wrong SID chip (don't know if there's a way to swap between different SID chips on TheC64 or not, but you can do it within Vice, so it's technically possible I suppose). It could also be that the SID emulation is just inaccurate for that game with the version of Vice they're using, and in that case you likely won't find a solution.
There are people far more knowledgeable on this subject. Hopefully they will chime in. You might also check to see if this is a common problem with the Vice emulator in general.

What if he installs Project Carousel and then launches a newer version of vice? I haven't ran the latest Project Carousel renditions yet but I believe you can launch a newer vice version then?
