Has anyone tried modifying the actual update, i.e. replace kernal with jiffydos? Does anyone know if it does a checksum check?

I cant see the kernel in the file, must be encrypted. Using strings on file, shows a few private and public keys. Dont know where to go from here though, any advice?

its encrypted indeed... request the sourcecode, the updater is a linux executable linked statically against LGPLv3 libs. then you can make your own. (or someone else could)
