I just got my new C64 Maxi setup and loving it so far. I am using a 4:3 aspect ratio display, and I was wondering if there was a way to view Carousel Mode in Fullscreen with the same 4:3 aspect ratio (no black borders)? That way I could just immediately launch into a game without having to resize the display to deal with the different aspect ratios.
If this does not currently exist as an option Perhaps this could be included in a future firmware update?
Thanks !

The screen on THEC64 is always the same size 1280x720 and dose not change resolution, its the emulator that changes its size on the screen only, the carousel dose not change, Full Hight squashes the emulator 4:3 screen into the screen then you can see all of it so its a stretched full screen(like VICE on the C64 Mini) so you see the top and bottom borders, if you use Pixel Perfect with Full Height you get a stretched display on a 16:9 TV screen but it will be 4:3 aspect ratio on a 4:3 Monitor Full Height is really for old 4:3 CRT Screens or VGA monitors.
You can use Vertical Shift to move the screen up to down on a 16:9 TV screen cause the top and bottom of the border will be cut off and off the screen, this set as default, it in the manual, how to use Vertical Shift and Full Height on each game, its on pages 98 and 100, the last page in the manual, you have to use a flag to enable them, you can use PCU Game Manager to make a CJM file with Vertical Shift or Full Height enabled.
I do not see RGL making a other update, they have moved on to TheA500Mini, but I guess they could sometime make another update after they finished with THEA500Mini, they only have one coder, Chris Smith that does the coding for all the machines firmware.

Ok thanks spannernick, for this response.
I actually ended up getting a good deal on a used LCD TV 19 inch off of Craigslist ($30 bargain) with a HDMI input jack. The carousel is now appearing full screen with no borders and the games are nearly full screen with only 1 cm black borders left and right side, which I can tolerate. I think it is due to the dimensions of this TV which are more square than rectangular.
At any rate, appreciate the promptness of your reply and the helpfulness of this C64 community!

I am using a 4:3 Samsung LCD monitor with my C64 maxi, and I also have a black border on both sides of the screen.
I hope this will be solved with the next firmware update. I also noticed that the blue screen border is smaller when compared the the real C64.
Now I am wondering if I someone can share with us an alternative method to stretch the screen until a firmware update is released, which will solve this issue because it's a bit annoying.

You need to use Full Height Mode but you have to add _FH to each game so like Game_FH.d64, it will give a full screen with no black bars at the sizes, its a shame you can not set it in THEC64 settings like the A500 Mini.

Thank you, I will try it this evening. So if it's possible to stretch the screen, it shouldn't be difficult to be included within the next firmware update.

I renamed a few games by adding (underscore) _FH.d64 and it did not work. I also renamed a number of games with a different format such as Game_FH.d64, Game_FH.tap, Game_FH.CRT and Game_FH.prg as follows, Gryzor_FH.D64. I've also saved them into a separate folder. I'm using Firmware 1.6.1, any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong as the black bar is very annoying.
