Nick how does the carousel generate the games list, is it from the tsg files and is it saved anywhere or is it generated everytime it loads Generated when thee Carousel starts (so when you switch on the Mini/Maxi), from the tsg files. It's not regenerated when you load and then quit a game as far as I can see form experimenting with changing TSG files when a game is running The only reason I asked is that phantom attack in the Vic section was all in lower case so I changed it to upper and now there's two games showing even thought there's one tsg file, so maybe there's a list or file with the list of games where I could edit it

I am thinking... how many of you are experiencing problems with the games on the PCUAE Carousels and updated to 1.5.1, I tried to add Golden Axe and 2 version of the game appeared in the Carousel when I added a vsf.gz file, it disappeared when I added its d81, so d81.gz, I have a funny feeling something has change in the libs on my THEVIC20 when I updated.

you can also make auto boot as an option instead of standard so you can choose yes or no when you activate PCUEA You would need a menu at bootup and I didn't like that and anyway you can disable it with CTRL-7.

Yes the shortcuts work ok now, i thought so because 1.30 worked ok and 1.31 did not , but all thats ok now
Next question i have is :
I have bought the retronic design joystick adapter.....(for my the Arcade joystick)
On the Original Carousel the Vic20 games work perfect with it, even most of the C64 games as far as i checked for now.
But when i switch to your Carousel 1.4.2 vic20 games still work with the joystick adapter but C64 games dont work with it.
I have tried to swap joystick with the new firmware option but that does nothing. any other options?
It looks like Joystick port 1 is ok but i cannot get it to go to port 2? what buttons are A and B on TheC64 joystick?

I checked it some more.......
So All Vic20 games have directions and fire(all Carousels) ,C64 Games that have joystick port 2 there is nothing, tried swapping joystick but did not work, C64 Games that have joystick port 1 only have directions.
What to do ?

reason why i dont want to boot pcuea every time and how it is now you must first boot in pcu and press ctrl-7 and reboot and then i can boot in standard carusel and if jou wil pcu again you must instrall pcu again gr davy If you dont want PCUAE to autoboot you have 2 choices. 1. Remove the USB 2. Turn off Autoboot with CTRL 7. Once you receive the message that Autoboot is off then the next time you start TheC64 with the USB in it will default to the STANDARD TheC64 CAROUSEL and PCUAE WILL NOT BE STARTED. To start PCUAE after a standard Carousel startup run the fake firmware on the settings menu.

It disables Autoboot. 2. if pressed a seconded time it enables Autoboot.

I had a idea for my Info Game Slots, well it connected to THE HALL OF FAME so if you press fire it comes up with the users that supported THEC64 Maxi, anyone out thats good at making something like that for PCUAE, so like a crack demo screen with music and Project Carousel USB going across the screen...?
Anyway just a idea, I am not that good at doing that kind of thing in the C64.

For me this is a good idea, also I would like to ask you if there is a way to shorten the loading times of individual carousels after pressing CTRL-F7 and their selection, because they are a bit long compared to the old versions of PCUAE in which were selected with CTRL + number. If that's not possible, that's okay!

I think the whole point of The64 is to have a carousel or Basic, anything extra comes after through options, its making it to complex. But that`s my opinion.

I also think that the idea of the simple carousel is the whole point. If additional options can be set in some files like the start.sh or other "config files", I am all happy. Adding menus during startup would make things more complicated at every startup and not so simple for my 4-year old daughter that now run the C64mini by her self with the carousel.

If you want to add more controllers in the gamecontrollerdb.txt files, I have two additions for great DB9 adapters: 03000000828200000132000001010000,DB9-2-USB by Gary Methetingham,a:b4,b:b5,back:b6,lefttrigger:b0,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,righttrigger:b1,start:b7,x:b3,y:b2,platform:Linux, 030000001008000001e5000010010000,Retronic Design BD9 Adapter,lefttrigger:b6,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,righttrigger:b9,dpdown:+a1,dpleft:-a0,dpright:+a0,dpup:-a1,platform:Linux, Would save some of us some updating with every new version

I second that - very similar thoughts in the poll thread. I would have a setting to set the preferred boot next time. e.g. I am in Vic20 classic mode and press CTRL+8 to set that mode for next boot. Flash up a quick confirm message like for Autoboot.

hmmm, still 1942 no joystick action(Carousel 1.4.2), joystick swapping with the new firmware is not implemented yet i guess.
Ctrl < does not do anything over here Now even the TheVIC20 joystick does not work in the game 1942 so something has changed.....
1942 is joystick port 2 > no joystick action Alleycat is joystick port 2 > joystick ok Track and Field is joystick port 2 > joystick ok Arkanoid is joystick port 1 > joystick fire button not working, directions ok
Confusing......

Flash up a quick confirm message like for Autoboot. I use to add options to the start.sh* file but it changed when I added Autoboot to PCUAE but all options was moved Autostart.sh** file but all the options are now removed and are all shortcut keys now, better than having to edit the script to enable a option. ...
*start.sh file is just used for the Fake update now so thec64-9.9.90.bin looks for it when you run it on the update page in the Firmware's Carousel and start.sh script starts Autostart.sh script only.
**Autostart.sh is the first script PCUAE runs and it runs about 3 other scripts inside it, like a chain so each script starts another one, if it needs too, you can run serval scripts at the same time so it loads them quicker.================================================================================================================================= Yes I think I could do something like that, everything you set in The Carousel like 50/60hz, Classic Mode or Carousel mode is saved in the Settings.dat file so all I need to do is copy the setting.dat file from the firmware when its in Classic Mode VIC20 or Classic Mode C64 and then make it copy over the setting.dat file on the firmware with that setting in it to change it on start-up, so when you picked that option in the menu it would remember it and make the Carousel do it at start-up everytime. So I would have to do it something like this... 1. Classic Mode C64 50hz 2. Classic Mode C64 60hz 3. Classic Mode VIC20 50hz 4. Classic Mode VIC20 60hz It would work the same way as the 50hz to 60hz, switching hertz with a shortcut key but has in it's settings.dat file to run in Carousel Mode at 50 or 60hz, 50hz has a settings.dat set at 50hz and 60hz has a settings.dat file at 60hz and the script tells it to copy the 50hz or 60hz settings.dat file over the one in the firmware to set it at 50hz or 60hz, way better then having to reset the machine to set it and if you reset the machine it wipes your saves you have saved to and the settings.dat file. I added it cause my machine would sometimes change from 50hz to 60hz, so I got sick of keep resetting my machine and having to pull out my HDMI cable. The setting.dat file is encrypted so you can't see inside it, its made by the Carousel so when you do a reset it deletes it., and makes a new one, I would like to see what setting are inside settings.dat file... The file is abit like the vice.rc file that comes with VICE but has more settings in it for the Carousel. Carousel v1.0.5 uses the same settings.dat file but cause its older it not the same and don't have the same settings in the file as v1.3.2+ has so can't be used with v1.3.2+(you get a black screen if you try), probably to do with, when they added the File Loader to the Carousel and the Carousel started to change. I find it kind of weird why the Carousel has two File Browsers now(File Loader can now be removed from the Carousel, it can't disk swap anyway)but thats because Media Access was added to THEC64 Maxi only and not available on THEC64 Mini at the time, well if a device has just come out you would not put the same features on the older device just yet cause it would stop the sale of the new device, like how they add feature to Mobile Phones, like the Samsung S20 would not have the same features as the Samsung A10, thats a cheaper phone, this is one of the reasons why THEC64 Mini never had Media Access until now,(I wouldn't put on it until the new device has sold enough units and pay it's build cost back and started to make a profit) THEC64 Maxi has been out for just over a year now, and did well in Europe so RGL has made they money on the machine.

Hi everyone,
I had checked out the Project Carousel USB on my c64 mini and it seemed to have borked the controls on a couple of games - particularly Bomberman. Is there a way to reset or uninstall it and see if this fixes it?
I appreciate any help because I am stuck at this point.
