By the way, I have noticed a bit of slowness in the transitions.

The tuturial in English is ready
It has become more of a compendium for Project Carousel USB and TheC64 Game Maxi Tool. I want to thank my friends, who have translated this tutorial for me without any computer knowledge. Some of them even sent it to me via WhatsApp. Have fun with it !
Thanks to Spannernick and all the others who helped with this great tool

What's New in PCU...
I am releasing 2 versions, one with HOLD 2 Buttons Carousel Gamelist Switcher enabled and one with it disabled.
PCU v1.14/14a has a new feature, its called HOLD 2 Buttons Carousel Gamelist Switcher, you can now change the Carousel Gamelist Screens by Holding 2 buttons down together, to change to the next one.
How to use the Feature.. Press and Hold Down RED Menu button, that's the 4th button at the back of THEC64 Joystick the one right at the end, on the right, Make sure its HELD down first before you press the Fire Button and then keep both HELD DOWN until you see the word "LOADING" come up on the screen, Fire Button 1 is the left Fire button on THEC64 Joystick(other controllers or control pads should have these buttons too, you just need to find out which buttons they are) once you have done it properly the screen will change and say "LOADING" and then load the next Gamelist Screen up, it quicker this way too to load up different Carousel Gamelist Screens.
PCU v1.14 has the feature disabled and PCUv14a has it enabled and PCU v1.14 changes Carousel Gamelist Screen with the Fake Update Gamelist Switcher instead like PCU v1.12.

The stuff using Vice is isolated in the c64emu.rgl and vic20emu.rgl. Yup, that's where my train of thought was coming from. Since you don't have the source for the carousel to make it smarter, an alternative could be to alter the source of these .rgl files to make them smarter instead. E.g. add some code in the .rgl file to re-read the settings file (was it .tsg?) for the game and parse it for any new settings you'd want to detect. E.g. which sid-chip to use for the game, perhaps wilder ideas one day too, like special keywords to turn on 4-player joystick support, jiffy-dos, a key mapped to a cartridge reset button, mouse support for geos, etc. Part of me wants to help out here with my code monkey skills, but my spare time is getting sucked up with monkeying around with mega65 atm. But from past posts you guys have shared here, it sounds like you've got all the ingredients ready. Think jj mentioned it was possible to compile on your local pc via qemu, then drop a new .rgl? I want to get familiar with this path and try it at some stage, just need to get my head around qemu. I had one run-in with it in the past, was a bruising experience, but maybe my next attempt at it might be a bit more smoother with jj's enlightening insights ;-)

Hi spannenick, are you sure that the two versions "1.14" and "1.14a" are different? Looking at the contents of the folders and strings in the "messages.msg" files it all seems identical. In the "1.13" version the various "fake updates" were missing and the content of the "messages.msg" files was different and relevant to the carousel change with the pressure of the two keys. *Update: Ok, I looked carefully at the "Start.sh" file and I noticed that between the versions "1.14" and "1.14a" only the activation or not of the two keys for the carousel changes, correct? However, I confirm that pressing the two buttons for the carousel change on my MAXI does not work, as does the use of the XWM.

why is the new version 1.2gb the previous version i used fit on a 1gb usb Its that big cause of XWM, its so you can edit stuff and do other things on the C64 Maxi/Mini so you don't need to relies on a PC to add _AD or _J1 to a disk image file name, you can now do it on THEC64 Maxi/Mini now, and not just to play games, X-Windows will be coming Commodore OS soon, going to try and add stuff from COS32bit(CommodoreOS 32bit v1.3). If you don't know what COS32bit is, It a Linux OS that was originally made by Commodore USA, and cause there was no 32bit version, only 64bit version, I made one in 2012. But if you do need XWM or think you are not going to use it then just delete the rootfs.img, The rootfs.img is big cause that where the OS is kept, it boots from it, remember its Debian OS.

Hi, just asking if anybody else has got the 2 button switch to work, as I cannot get it to work still even after watching the video. After pressing menu and button 1 thec64 goes to the c64 classic with ready prompt. I have tried various combinations of pressing and still get the same result, I just dont understand why its not working. I am using the 1.14a build. Thank you for this amazing project BTW.

I have both a Mini and a Maxi here for testing. I got the 2-button method of PCU v1.14a to change the carousel and load X-Windows (as demonstrated in the video above) working fine on my Mini. However doing the exact same thing on my Maxi does not work.
The v1.14 PCU using the old fake firmware method works fine as before on the Maxi.
