Hi
Just picked up one of these which allows you to plug in a real c64 joystick into a USB port via a USB adaptor. However cannot get it to work on the mini. Has anyone else tried this or other ideas to use an original c64 joystick ? Thx

My home brew atari 9pin to usb didn't work either, works fine on PC though with classic joysticks and Sega Megadrive pads.

Thanks be good if we could get this working. Alternatively can anyone recommend another USB joystick for the mini ? Are the competition pro USB joysticks any better than the one supplied with the mini ?

I don't know if there is one but spannernick copied some posts from the old forum that may help. I use the Innext SNES pad for most things and stick with the official joystick if I really need a joystick for that odd game that demands one. Not sure if the list that Fatgit posted can be 100% trusted though as the poster eagle has pointed out one controller in the list does not work. thec64community.online/thread/12/which-joysticks-work-mini-list

Has anyone else tried this or other ideas to use an original c64 joystick ? Thx Well, the problem is, that the c64 mini only supports those joysticks and gamepads, which are setup in the Gamecontrollerdb.txt. Since Each Controller has different Sticks/Pads/Buttons, those have to defined and mapped in the config file. At Present, there is no way of adding unsupported Joysticks to the mini without modding it and doing that by yourself. I also know of another 64 Project for using Nintendo Joysticks with the c64 and also there mostly the older nunchuck work and some newer or fakes dont work. If you mod your c64 mini (u dont need much for that), then you can logon to the mini, plugin your Joystick and can find out with dmesg the main Information to add the Joystick to the C64 mini Gamecontrollerdb file Or you wait and pray, that Retro Games will add some Menu/wayfor adding joysticks... The only other alternative is to buy a supported Joystick/Gamepad.
