Dear all, TheVIC20 (don't know about TheC64) seems to be very picky when it comes to the question of what monitor you actually connect it to. I couldn't get it to display anything on my Toshiba TV. Connecting it to a monitor didn't help either; neither did a stronger power supply unit. So I got a replacement and had the same issue I was about to return that machine to Amazon too, but was advised to try the troubleshooting section of the manual first. And lo and behold, the trick with "holding the power button for 6 seconds" actually got it to display something on an LG computer monitor. Full of hope, I took it back down to the TV, but alas - no picture. I did try changing the settings from PAL to NTSC, but to no avail. So I was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same issue, and has maybe found a solution yet. The computer monitor doesn't pass through the sound, so it's not a very nice gaming experience - plus, I specifically bought the machine to use in our living room instead of the "home office"... Any help would be greatly appreciated - I might be doing something wrong, but haven't found it yet... At least the machine isn't broken, which is some sort of relief. Thanks a bunch in advance. Best, Joerg

Have you tried to reset it and unplug HDMI cable,(you unplug HDMI to try and reset its display) reset it on the monitor that you get a picture on but don't let it restart so unplug HDMI then power cable, now plug it into the TV and plug power(make sure it on before you plug in HDMI cable)then HDMI and pray you see a picture on the TV, asking for 50hz or 60hz display.

That's an interesting idea, but a little difficult to manage with the TV and the monitor at different vertical ends of the house... I might eventually give it a try though & keep you posted. Thanks for the input (no pun intended ). Best, Joerg
