Yes, my opinon is bitching* doesn't help to anything and bitching* on the official C64mini facebook is just too much. I bought my mini "as is", I like it and although it has some minor problems witch synchronisation, response times etc. - these all are slowly being solved with FW updates and IN ADDITION TO THIS developers even provide us with new features!
Tell me - will you expect Nintendo release a new firmware for their minis allowing users to download and insert pirated games??? No, forget it. You have built in licensed games (as TheC64 has) with NO OFFICIAL SUPPORT to change it or add any more. TheC64 team cares, they allow you to enhance abilities of your device but you are still complaining? And I absolutely disagree with "bobele" saying "They do only what they absolutely have to." No, they don't have to. They should solve the problems with existing games/ controls /sound /whatever, but adding new features is just a bonus for us, users. So my point of view: I really appreciate their care and thank them a lot for all the FW udates.
*I am not a native ENG speaker so I do not know if this word is allowed or is too strong.
Why would Nintendo need to do that when its already been done?
I might be able to get my C64 Menu to work, you can press a key and it loads Fibr,Nav,dc64 or FB,FB is not working cos its the fastloader version and it don't load properly but the normal File Browser works fine. and other programs like Geos and SID player,.. .
If you make it work, I made special PETSCII background for that C64 Menu (it doesn't have to blink):
If you can see the root of the USB stick that means you can fill it up with sid tunes and have the prg files on the root or in folders and not have to have them in a disk image.. Its acting like my SD2IEC device on my C64..
YAY! It should be tested... if it works... wow, it will be great!
The only thing i complain about, is that it is still not possible to use multidisk images without a hassle. You still have to load it, when the program tells you to flip over the disk you need to save the state, change the usb stick and load the save state. This is really, really bad. I don't care about typing load in basic but saving the snapshot is anoying for me.
Thank you for the Ultima 4 Cartridge! Now I need to figure out which of these I should actually pick for my play-through. I was enjoying the thought of just re-using my old floppies (their images), but this will do nicely.
I'm actually enjoying what it feels like to just use the old hardware, which is why I am among those who are rooting and hoping for the firmware to eventually allow me to disable the reset/autorun function for my personal use. It would feel like old times. I'd be using the BASIC commands, just because I want to. I'd love to see this, in the Mini. It would make it that much more special, to me. I know, games like Ultima IV will turn everyone into a diskjockey, frothing at the mouth, but it's not nearly as bad as it was in Ultima VI.
In the mean time, I will probably try to find cartridges for games that keep tempting me, if they have more than one floppy side.
