I managed to disable pcuae's autoboot With the latest version it worked, although it was strange that pcuae started 2 or maybe 3 times. The sound sounded 3 double. Then did the factory settings and the latest update on it. Everything seems to be working fine now. Problem solved.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the scene. This project looks amazing! Trying to download PCUAE Manager 2.2.2 but the link in post#1 isn't working. Error message: "This item might not exist or is no longer available" Can anyone help? thanks!

Thanks Davy, that worked and got PCUAE running.
Next, tried the Amiga mode. Downloaded and installed the Amiga Pack directly to the USB stick from PCUAE Manager. Booted into PCUAE ok. CTRL+F5 into the Mode Changer, selected Amiga Mode. The the view "What Modes are Installed or Enabled?" it does say 'Amiga Mode is installed' but when I select Amiga Mode, I get the error message "*** IMPORTANT*** Cannot start Amiga Mode, it is not installed on the PCUSE USB Stick, you need to download the Amiga Mode Pack from PCUAE Manager".
Tried to install again, but same message.
Any ideas?

Same here Amiga mode is broken on this release of PCAUE and when you launch it from a previous PCAUE release quite a few of the games freeze on the intro and wont work with tiny Launcher. Amiga mode-pack-1.8.0b1 works good but you need the hd files that were available in a separate download after installing pack 1 github.com/CommodoreOS/PCUAE/releases

Did you install Amiga mode-pack-1.8.0b1 on top of a more recent release of PCUAE, or on the matching release of PCUAE? Also, can't find those 'hd' files on the github; are they somewhere else? edit: I put PCUAE 1.8.0b1 (standalone) on a different USB stick, but THEC64 won't boot. Presume its because its running the firmware aligned with the more recent release? The previous USB stick running v1.9.2b1 still boots fine.

No, unfortunately for me Amiga mode-pack-1.8.0b1 doesn't work properly with earlier versions of PCAUE 1.9.xxx as F7 is broken and you cannot exit safely without it corrupting the HDF files, also setting frame skip removes the autoboot file so avoid until it gets fixed. To get up and running remove the auto boot script from the newer version of PCAUE 1.9.xxx you are using and the usb with the old version of PCAUE should now boot into the carousel. From there you will now be able to apply the fake firmware upgrade again so you can now use amiga mode. I am using Amiga mode 1.8.0b1 with PCAUE 1.8.5bf10 and it’ works perfectly minus network mode. github.com/CommodoreOS/PCUAE/releases/download/v1.8.6b1/pcuae1.8.5bf10-setup.exegithub.com/CommodoreOS/PCUAE/releases/download/v1.8.0b1/pcuae-amiga-mode-pack-1.8.0b1-setup.exeYou can get the HDF files from the latest Amiga mode and just copy them over to the \Carousel_Games\Options\AMIGA_Mode\amiga\emulator\Amiga System HDF empty folder and you should be up and running. If you need, here's a link to the other two packs from the Amiga mode 1.8.0b1 ( you only really need pack 2) onedrive.live.com/?authkey=%21ACulbV1u7Z95IRA&id=DE6843E1C82A96C8%21323314&cid=DE6843E1C82A96C8

Thanks for that.
What I did: 1. used the old USB running "OldUSB" (PCAUE 1.9.xxx) Options Menu to remove the autoboot script from firmware, then also to disable autoboot. 2. rebooted without any USBs and confirmed that the firmware was back to running theC64-1.6.1-amora 3. rebooted with the new USB "NewUSB" (PCAUE 1.8.5bf10) and Applied the found firmware theC64-9_9_90.bin 4. Saw the machine reboot, saw the RGL splashscreen, followed by the PCUAE splashscreen, but finished on the normal Carousel. checked the firmware; still running theC64-1.6.1-amora.
Bit lost, as by this stage the first time, am pretty sure was running PCUAE!
edit: should also point out that as of now, theC64 will not boot with either OldUSB or NewUSB or inserted.

Now that PCUAE is v2.0.0 its not showing it in PCUAEManager, unless you delete all the old PCUAE Setups in pcuae-install folder and then it sees it and then you can download it, you have to remove them manually by going into pcuae-install folder and deleting them, you need a way of deleting them in PCUAEManager without it have to see a update for PCUAE. PCUAE game folder has changed now to USB:/PCUAE/Carousel_Games/Games folder cause PCUAAE is now included, its the only way it would work, I did try and put all the files in the same place, only the root of the USB Drive but it would not work. Its here to download or download it from PCUAEManager but you have to delete all old PCUAE Setups manually before it will show it and is able to be downloaded in PCUAEManager... github.com/CommodoreOS/PCUAE/releases/tag/v2.0.0

I also fixed so that 2.0.0 is detected by the manager and added a new feature to manage saved states for file loader games. 2.6.0

The Games folder in PCUAE with be moving to the Games folder on the root of the USB Drive, like where the Modes are now, its a better place for them and better when the carousel on the A500 gets hacked to load your own games from the carousel, I do not know when that will be, I just want PCUAAE ready for it so when it does happen it easier to add to PCUAAE. The next update of PCUAE, the games will move to the root of the USB Drive in a folder called Games, I should of done this when I moved the Modes and added PCUAAE to PCUAE, but I was only working on PCUAAE at the time and didn't have the time to. I thought a post about it first before doing it this time... Next I be working on AMIGA Mode and porting AMiNIMiga to PCUAE from PCUAAE... This is AMiNIMiga...

This is supposed to work for the C64Mini right? I updated the firmware to 1.6.1 I had PCUAE Manager install to my USB stick. When I put the USB stick in and pick system information it says Build -> theC64-1.6.1-shield Build date -> 13-12-2021 10:06:25 When I select Apply nothing happens the system just locks up... Edit: I had modified my C64Mini 3 years ago according to this thread.. gurce.net/c64mini/how_to_mod_the_c64_mini_to_add_extra_gamesIt was a while ago so I don't remember exactly what I did. I know I used Path B. So no modifications to NANDB... Only the changes to NANDA. I thought I set it up so I can use putty to log into the C64. But unfortunately the PC I had all of the stuff set up on croaked a few months later. Luckily though all of my backup stuff was on an external drives so I've managed to find that. I'm thinking of restoring the NANDA and seeing if that fixes the problem. Would I have to do the NANDB as well to revert back to the previous firmware and re-upgrade to 1.6.1? Edit 2: So I was able to restore my NANDA and it still locks up when I tell it to upgrade the firmware with C64-9_9_90.bin. So I went ahead and did my NANDB. No biggy because I didn't have much on there ( if at all ) to be concerned about. What was odd is I had the USB stick in the C64Mini when I was booting into FEL mode and it loaded the "PCUEA Manager restore utility". So I guess that confirms the stick is ok? Anywho I restored NANDB whic puts me at 1.2.0 . I tried again and it is still locking up when I pick "Apply"... Edit 3: OK.. It looks like PCUAE 2.0.0b7 does not work on my theC64Mini ( NTSC model ).. but I was able to use PCUAE 1.9.2b9 and it loads up fine. After turning on Autostart all is hunky dory. However 2.0.0b7 still does not work. So I'm SOL in regards to using that version. Edit 4: Well my options are kind of limited with PCUAE 1.9.2b9. So hopefully someone will come along and help me get 2.0.0b7 working. I looked at the scripts a little and I can't see any reason why it would not work.. but there is an awful lot of stuff going on there. A bit beyond my skill/paycheck. Edit 5: I ran into a little dilemna where I disabled autoboot and removed the scripts but couldn't get them back through normal means.. but I got that straightened out. I'm actually getting the hang of this thing now. I created a joystick config for my old FireStorm Dual Analog 2. The process is a bit of a pita but I managed to muck through it after a couple of tries. I also created some custom mappings for one game. One thing that I've noticed is if the USB stick becomes corrupted it can prevent the carousel from booting. I have to insert the USB stick on my PC and run a check disk on it. It seems to be the log files that are mostly the culprit. Happens even when I shut down the C64 mini properly. I just thought I'd mention that. The logs are nice to have when there are problems... but they can also create a booting problem like I had. Anywho... thanks to all who put all the work into this. I can tell that quite a lot of work was put into throwing this puppy together. It's a little unconventional but it is still rather nice.

I made a mistake in PCUAE and changed the USB Device from /tmp/usbdrive/sda1 to /dev/sda1 not realising that THEC64 Mini don't have /dev/sda1, only /tmp/usbdrive/sda1, THEC64 Maxi and THEVIC20 have both, so stopped Autoboot Mode working on THEC64 Mini, so I plain on fixing it today hopefully, sorry about that.

Understandable.. after finally reading through several threads on this and some of the changelog from the github it all makes perfect sense. Trying to support THEC64 mini ( NTSC & PAL ) and THEC64 Maxi and THEVIC20 and I presume some time in the future the Amiga mini is a lot of work! Thanks for replying. I was a little worried cause activity here seems to have died down some and after some reading it sounds like even the NTSC THEC64 Mini has it's own little quirks. I've been tinkering with the older version for the past few weeks and it's a nice piece of work once I got the hang of everything. No hurries or anything. It will be great though to be able to update to the latest and greatest. I didn't want to go too far down the rabbit hole customizing with an older version as well. But I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime anyways.

I'm using a slightly older version of pcuae but keeps tabs on progress every couple of days. It's currently not broke so I'm waiting till I see anything that tells me I need to update again. I think pcuae is an amazing project and had unlocked a lot of potential and ease of use for thec64 models.

Thanks for the support ... I just released a update but I had to add AMIGA Mode as a torrnet file cause GitHub has a 2GB limit, its 3.69GB, PCUAE Manager downloads the torrent file but errors out if it try's to run it, would there be a way of getting PCUAE Manager to reconise it as a torrent file and start Utorrent if its installed on the PC already and then adds the torrent file to Utorrent or it tell you, you need a torrent program to download and install it...? Utorrent can be downloaded here... www.utorrent.com/be careful when installing Utorrent, it has adds in it and is a PUA on Microsoft Antivirus, I can shear my version if you like, I removed all the adds in it...? PCUAE Only The Games folder has now moved to the root of the USB Drive, the same place where the Modes are kept, the Game folder is linked to PCUAE-USB-Drive:/Carousel_Games/Games folder so its still there but will not read the games from that folder, it gets overmounted, I have included a PCUAE Mode Games Pack too so you can now install the games without having to import them from PCUAE Manager, just install them to the root of the USB Drive, if you do not want a Gameslist then just delete it from the Games folder, just make sure you keep Carousel Gamelist Favorites_1, you will need it to enable PCUAE Mode, if its not there then it will enable Firmware Mode instead.
The Games Pack is 285 MB and it includes the default gamelist set plus OneLoad set.

Thanks for the updated version. Just a brief rundown. I was able to get it to load through fake boot. It did take forever to get to the carousel. I had to boot twice before it would autoboot. The 2nd time it actually installed the new? autoboot script and then it was fine. Also the save states are actually working. They were not on v1.92b9 for some reason. The biggest problem I'm having is that it is a little erratic. When I try to navigate with the hotkeys it is not unusual for it to black screen. On the mode changer the screen came up but then went black before I had a chance to pick an option ( I was distracted at the time ). The carousel gamelist changer timed out on me first time around. Now it just shows black boxes and none of the gamelists. Just weird odd behavior like that. I don't think I've ever successfully navigated back to the carousel menu after going through any changer. I always have to shutdown and reboot. More later when I have a chance. For now although this one works it is to erratic for my tastes compared to v1.92b9. Edit 1: I noticed the games pack has a file named "Installed Games Pack For PCUAE Mode(PCUAE Only).txt" which mentions games that you use on your atari as well? But I couldn't figure out where they were if anywhere... At some point I'd like to try some of the other packs. Edit 2: I tried again from scratch by removing everything from my USB stick and trying again no luck. When I go to the carousel gamelist changer it just shows a bunch of black boxes with nothing in them. I can't move around with the joystick. Music just keep on cycling through a bunch of sid tunes. The very first time I ran the carousel gamelist changer they showed properly but it timed out on me cause I had stepped away. Or at least I think it did cause I briefly saw a screen saying so? Anywho now I'm stuck not being able to change the gamelists.. Edit 3: I figured I'd at least try to do a bit more testing and I have the following observations. PCUAE Options Menu I select Disk Space it shows me the info but black screens when exiting back to Options menu. Midnight Commander -> I get the error /tmp/pcu/Carousel_Games/Options/PCUAE_Menu_System/Yaft/mc-startup.sh: line 48: mc: not found. Screen blacks out when exiting. I'm not sure Jiffydos is installing properly. When I activate it I get an error regarding the Vic 20 Jiffydos which makes sense. However when I disable jiffydos I get three unmount errors. Cant unmount /usr/lib/vice/C64/kernal Cant unmount /usr/lib/vice/DRIVES/d1541II Cant unmount /usr/lib/vice/DRIVES/dos1541 I can't get to page 2 of the PCUAE Options Menu. (looks like it might be a typo in the script) I can never get back to the game carousel from the PCUAE Options menu... I always get a black screen and have to shutdown/reboot. On a side note unlrelated to PCUAE. I noticed the music in some games stutter. A quick search on the forums here gave me the impression that nothing can be done about this? Thanks again!

Forget to mention, as soon as PCUAE detects the old Autoboot(the startup scripts name has changed so it deletes all the old files), it will delete it to false you to update it so if you go to run PCUAE again it will not autoboot. PCUAE loads up ok on my THEC64 Mini NTSC fine from Autoboot Mode. This prove its the NTSC Model, it booting into 60HZ from in the firmware, `fbmode=0`

Yeah I'm not having any issues with autoboot now. Only initially. Now I can't change the game carousel and various other issues if you read my edit 2 and edit 3 from my last post.
If you need any logs from my mini system just let me know.
Thanks

PCUAEv2.0.1b1 released.. I fixed the Carousel Gamelist Changer problem... it now changes gamelists ok. I have now fixed PAL/NTSC too so it now switches between 50Hz and 60Hz in the carousel on THEC64 Maxi, if you change it in the PCUAE Options Menu(CTRL+F7 or MENU+LEFT FIRE BUTTON on joystick) and it works on THEC64 Mini too, PAL or NTSC models.

Thanks for this. Confirmed as working! I like the little extra text you added in regarding to building of thumbnails. As a slight suggestion. I've noticed with some utility options a lot of text will display but no prompt for the user to press "enter" and sometimes I can't read the text fast enough before it moves on. I don't know if this was due to many requests by other users. But my opinion is an press "enter" option should be present. I also don't notice any sound hiccups now that I've switched to PAL mode so that is good as well! I can now get on to more important things like playing games! Well and I'd also like to play with those add-ons at some point. Now about those Atari games mentioned in that text file? I'm just curious about them. I do have a couple hundred games that I put together that I know run well under Atari800 in retroarch.. but at some point I'd like to try the Atari addon. Thanks for you work.

Thanks, you should now be able to play VIC20 games on the carousel on THEC64 Mini now too... Yes! In fact I just wasted several hours tinkering with the Vic-20 games. There were a few games that were not working. Ms. Pac-man, Q-bert and Robotron. If anyone is interested.. I fixed them and added the following games that seemed to be missing. Defender ( no box-art ), Donkey Kong, Pole Position. I didn't do Q-bert because the screenshots included in the games pack did not match what is the Parker Brothers version of the game. I don't know if someone accidently grabbed the C64 screenshot? Only other thing unusual I noticed is I can't use the Joystick I created a config for to get into any of the utilities menu's for some reason. Even though the Carousel does respond properly to the buttons individually. Now about those Atari games... Anywho again thanks. I'm currently distracted with Planet Coaster.. but I do plan on spending more time with the mini now that all is good and well. Edit 1: Yep.. I loaded The C64 version of Q*Bert and it seems someone got their screenshots mixed up. If someone want's me to fix Q-Bert I can try that one as well. Although it didn't look too good. Edit 2: Hmmm.. didn't find Q-bert where I thought I would. This might have to wait. I may have it stashed on another drive. But that will have to wait until later.
