Normally I am very good at following instructions. lol. So I am feeling defeated.
First time trying to set this up on The C64 maxi to be able to modify carousel lists.
Let me give my step by step play - maybe someone can see where I am messing up?
PCUAE 2.1.0 installed on PC. Check.
2 different sized USB sticks to use. a 4gb stick and a 64gb stick (I have seen the warnings about the 64's). Check.
Both usb sticks are formatted as MBR/FAT32. Check.
Used PCUAE on the PC to install to USB drive(s) (Trying this on both sticks to see if they behave the same). Check.
In PCUAE on PC, exported one game, using the correct drive letter of the USB stick, to the Carousel_Games folder. Check.
Verified the game (1943) shows up in Games/Covers/Screens. (on EACH usb stick. 4gb AND the 64gb stick). Check.
Booted Stick in The C64 - went to system, firmware, rebooted & got the Anniversary Edition splash screen on boot. Check.
This is where I am not seeing what I am expecting....
Carousel comes up, does not show 1943 or anything new.
I did the CTRL-F7 and am able to get into the PCUAE menu. Check.
Your install instructions talk about choosing option 7 on the menu, which seems to be an option about changing root passwords for SSH.
Went through it and afterwards exited back to carousel. From that point, my first carousel box is black and I have no keyboard, joystick control and am forced to power down system.
(This reacts the same way up to this point using either of the 2 usb sticks)
When I boot up The C64 after this, I appear to not be autobooting and do not have CTRL-F7 functionality, unless I go in do the firmware check again off USB and do another reboot.
At that time I am repeating the steps above about 4 lines, where I am expecting 1943 to show up.
I am missing something along the way, I just don't know what it is.
Would running the latest firmware from RetroGames (Dec '21 release) be messing it up?
