Hi,
I know total heresy, but I have been fiddling with the Atari Mode in 1.7.1.
And I have run into a couple of issues which may have simple, but not immediately obvious solutions.
Atari800 emulator sound is pretty borked, I have tried lots of settings and sometimes if I fiddle around it clears up and become useable for a few moments and then slowly drops back into being distorted and glitchy - any one conquered this issue?
Secondly using Atari++ I cannot find the key mapping for the START key - F1 is menu, F7 is reset - F3 and F5 are Select and Option - but where is START, it's not F7 as in Atari800?
Any help would be hugely appreciated!

If the sound is glitchy then it might be the frame rate, I know the frame rate drops if your using THEC64 Mini, but on THEC64 Maxi its ok well with Donkey Kong its is, so you might have to skip a frame or two for it to sound right, but this is a guess cause I do not know what machine your using, It would be a good idea to put it on your signature like I have below.
The emulators are not perfect cause they were only compile so not optimised for the machines cause I am not a coder so do not understand C language.
If you go into options/ATARI_Mode/ folder you will see the files with mini in there name, those are for THEC64 Mini, the scrpit looks to see what machine your using and loads the right config file for it so you can change it without changing it on another model, so like a++mini.conf or atari800mini.cfg ands so on, you can change its frame rate in them.
For the Atart800 Emulator you use atari800mini.cfg for 800 XL/EX computers or atari5200mini.cfg for Atari 5200 and the line you change is.. `ACCURATE_SKIPPED_FRAMES=0` so change it to 1 or 2 and see if it makes ant difference.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I am using a "Maxi" and the Donkey Kong sound is way off in Atari800 - nothing like the real hardware or Atari800 running on my Mac or PC.
Will take a look at skip rate, but fear that will have too much impact on the game experience.

P.S. What key is START in Atari++

The START Key might be assigned to a F key thats not on the keyboard so could be F2, it only see the F keys as F1, F3, F5 and F7. I have to check, thats the way the keyboard is made, Linux does not see the F keys if you press SHIFT and F1 to make it F2, it see the key as F1 only, it the VICE emulator that see it as F2 if you press SHIFT and F1 so the keyboard is missing F2, F4, F6 and F8, its the same with the CRSR keys, it only see them as Arrow keys Up and Right. I quickie put Atari Mode together so maybe its needs to be ruining at a lower resolution so to make it play the sound properly, I was doing other things as well when I made Atari Mode so need to look into it again and fix it. Its on my to do list...
